The medicine is usually acquired in a cardboard packaging. Within, several blisters and the leaflet can be found. Why blisters? First of all, they protect the drug from external environment: humidity and pollution. Its material is not chosen randomly. It is polymer or aluminium. Polymers, for example PVC and its blends with other chemicals are used. They can be easily shaped with the help of special appliances under high temperature conditions. After the wanted shape of the packaging is finished, the tablets are put inside it. Last, they are covered with the lid. It is typically made of aluminium or polymer foil. During tablet packaging process, a wide range of factors must be taken under consideration. The raw material which is used must not react with the drug. It ought to be tough enough to protect the tablets from cracking. At the same time the final packaging must be user-friendly. Elderly patients must be able to unpack it without any problems, but not the kids. It is quite difficult to design such sort of blister.
